While spending way too much time on Pinterest... I came across some neat ideas for the holidays.
I love that C & G are just about old enough to understand the joys of Christmas.
New Tradition #1
Elf on the Shelf.
I have been debating on starting this or not. Then I came across a blog who gave Eli a little spin that incorporates Jesus. I love her entire post and her take on the commercialization of Christmas and Santa.
I love also the focus on the good list vs. the bad list because Jesus extends his grace to each of us daily as we all fall short.
I DO want my kids to experience the joy of Santa with a Jesus perspective.
New Tradition #2
Christmas Eve Present
On Christmas Eve, The kids get to open one gift. In that gift are new Christmas pajamas (I'm adding house slippers too), a Christmas movie, and a sweet treat to eat while watching the movie (I'm thinking smores), hot chocolate and a new Christmas Book. All to enjoy before bed.
New Tradition #3
The Minivan SUV Express
After the kids baths as they are getting ready for bed, surprise them with a ticket to the Minivan SUV Express. Have popcorn ready for them along with their tickets and then off you go out to the minivan SUV. Paul is the conductor and punches their tickets as they get on board. Then go drive around town to look at Christmas lights in different neighborhoods.
And speaking of Christmas drawing near... here are some of my fav pictures from pinterest that make my heart pitter patter for the holidays!
